The vendors currently live in the home adjoining the Pinedale Lodge property. It is an affordable home with 3/4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 ensuite), and a ducted heat-pump system. The reception is based in a small office leading from the central courtyard between the home and the lodge.
New owners have several options including:

Brokers Comment
Pinedale Backpacker Lodge has a good reputation, offers unique, quality facilities to guests, is an Award Winner and rated highly by NZ's leading accommodation agency - Qualmark.
The current vendors have implemented strong, efficient systems and procedures, a great website, tol-free number of 0800 METHVEN and innovative marketing ideas - all of which come with the sale of the business.
Methven is a popular Tourist Town with the Ski-season being the boom trading period. The Christchurch Earthquake has resulted in increased business for the town from both domestic and tourist travellers. Summer trade continues to increase each year and this business receives income over the summer months from renting the Lodge. The Apartment is also popular all year round.
The proposed NZ Mountain Bike Track and Planned Hot Pools can only be positive for the town and accommodation providers. This is a great opportunity to buy a good business and freehold property. A smart investor would also consider purchasing the family home owned by the vendors adjoining the backpacker property.

Methven is a small town in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located near the western edge of the Canterbury Plains, 35 kilometres north of Ashburton.
Nearby, Mount Hutt rises to the west of the Canterbury Plains in the South Island of New Zealand, above the braided upper reaches of the Rakaia River, and 80 kilometres west of Christchurch. Its summit is 2190 metres above sea level.
The mountain is home to a commercial alpine ski area with the largest ski able area in the South Island (3.65 square kilometres), and a vertical height of 683 metres.
It caters for a wide range of skiers, with a "magic carpet" lift for beginners, good intermediate and advanced runs, and access to large off-piste areas. The most advanced runs on the mountain are through the rock formations at the top of the field known as "The Towers", and the South Face.
The snow season is from June to October. Mount Hutt prides itself on and historically has been the first ski-field in the Southern Hemisphere to open at the beginning of each season. Mt Hutt's facilities include a high-speed six seater chair, a quad chair, triple chair and magic carpet.
Since there is no accommodation on the mountain, most visitors stay in the nearby town of Methven, a 35 minute drive to the mountain. The larger town of Ashburton is 55 minutes away. The city of Christchurch is just over an hour's drive away.
Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand, and the country's second-largest urban area. It is one third the way down the South Island's east coast, just north of Banks Peninsula.
