The National Park Hotel is nicely situated on the northern side of the National Park Village. It offers good kiwi country comfort: sleeps up to 55, with a public bar, restaurant, cafe and takeaway service, wholesale liquor sales, plus backpacker facilities.

Winter is a busy time with National Park Village just 19km from Mt Ruapehu; Whakapapa ski field is about 20 minutes away and Turoa ski field is about 50 minutes away.

There is plenty of activity in summer too with fishing, hiking, kayaking and biking, access to the World Heritage Tongariro National Park walks, and the Whanganui River close by.

The Hotel is on the corner of Carroll and Ward Streets with the main frontage on Carroll Street, and additional access from Ward Street. It is a couple of blocks from the main highway which keeps road noise to a minimum.

The Main building is circa late 1940's and contains the main office and reception area, the Bar, Wholesale Liquor sales, and main accommodation.

The main entrance is quite large and well lit, and provides good visibility and access to the Bar, Wholesale, and Accomodation.

The Bar is large and well lit with natural light. In the winter it's warmed with a freestanding log burner on wetback providing hot water to radiators in the accommodation hallway and the toilet areas

 The Main accommodation block includes:

  • 3 Single Rooms
  • 1 Family Room
  • 5 Double/Family Rooms
  • 2 Double Rooms
  • Separate bath / Shower/ and toilet facilities

Plus

  • Managers Lounge and bedroom with ensuite.

Plus

  • Restaurant/Dining Room
  • Restaurant Kitchen

There is a separate back packer accommodation with includes:

  • 7 Single rooms
  • 4 Double rooms
  • 1 Bunkroom
  • 2 Shower and Toilet rooms
  • Back Packers Kitchen.

Other improvements include a Drying Room, Garage, Woodsheds, and Barked gardens.

The land is leasehold with a perpetual right of renewal administered through the Office of Treaty Settlements. The ground rental is very reasonable with approximately 17 years until the next review.

The Business is currently on an Eight year lease with 2 yearly rent reviews, with the next review due in February of 2011. Business figures for the past 5 years show steady growth, with further potential.

The current owners have business interests in Whangarei and would like this sold. They would consider a full or part trade to facilitate a sale, and the Business Interest may also be available by negotiation.

The Building has an independent valuation of $760,000.

Sale is plus GST if any.

National Park is New Zealand highest urban township located on the central plateau of the North Island. It borders the World Heritage Tongariro National Park, and has great views of Mt Tongariro, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Ruapehu.

The town sits between the main trunk railway line and the junction of State Highways 4 and 47, 45 km from the southern end of Lake Taupo.

In the winter its a 20 minutes drive to the country's biggest ski fields of Whakapapa on the northern slopes Mt Ruapehu, and 50 minutes drive to the Turoa ski field on the southern slopes.

In the summer the village is a popular base for access to the Tongariro and Whanganui National Parks - for hiking, biking and kayaking, and fishing. It is also a great base for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, known as the best one day alpine treks in New Zealand.
