Whatuwhiwhi is a settlement at the northern end of Tokerau Beach, on the Karikari Peninsula of Northland, New Zealand. To the south is Doubtless Bay. Kaitaia is about 39 km away. There are many shaded and sandy coves for safe swimming.

Just 20 minutes from Whatuwhiwhi Holiday Park is the lovely small town of Taipa. There, you will find craft and art stores, one of the best and busiest bakeries in Northland, a selection of cafes and bars and calm harbour waters. There is a public boat ramp in Taipa.

5 minutes further drive brings you to Mangonui, a small settlement at the south end of doubtless Bay. Once a bustling whaling and trading port, this scenic historic village is home to some truly exquisite heritage buildings now housing modern businesses. Mangonui Wharf is a picturesque place to see the fishing boats bring in their day's catch - dine over the water on fresh battered snapper and crispy hot chips at the world famous fish and chip shop.

Just fifteen minutes from Mangonui is Butler Point, where you'll find a very interesting Whaling Museum. The collection includes a fully-equipped whale boat, real whale harpoons and many more artefacts. There is also an 1840's Victorian house (Butler House) with beautiful gardens. You'll also see the largest Pohutakawa tree in New Zealand and have the opportunity to sample and then purchase delicious macadamia nuts from the on-site macadamia orchard.
