Turangi is a small town on the west bank of the Tongariro River, 50 kilometres south-west of Taupo on the North Island Volcanic Plateau of New Zealand.   The International World Heritage programme has recognised Tongariro National Park and Mount Ruapehu as special places in New Zealand and these are in very close proximity to Turangi, making the Sportsman's Lodge an ideal base for Hiking, Swimming, Boating, Fishing, Hunting and Snow skiing.
