“Stop in for lunch on Day 1 of a weekend Twin Coast round trip and had lunch at The Paparoa Hotel – a retro classic. The beer was cold, the Chardonnay excellent, and the Pulled Pork and Watercress Pizza was outstanding! We wanted to try more of the menu but time didn’t allow it, but our gracious host (a long way from home in the US), setting, and food make this a classic Kiwi treasure.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Thirsty Tui Hotel in July 2020. We ate dinner at the pub both nights, and the food was EXCELLENT. Very generous and very fresh – flounder caught that day and melt-in-the-mouth beef cheeks. Delicious! Nerissa and Sean were wonderful hosts, knowledgeable and very welcoming. It was a pleasure to spend the weekend with them. The rooms are in their original form, made fun with the vintage and retro theme. They are priced appropriately and we were very comfortable. The fire in the lounge was delightful to retire to after dinner. Thank you for a relaxing holiday!

I would highly recommend 👌 The food was delicious and the Chefs did a great job. Pricing is very reasonable for food and drinks. The Staff were great and a special thanks to Sean he was amazing. We went for my Mums Birthday he suggested we preorder been a larger group communication was on point and the food came out at the time we had asked for.

A great country pub with a lot of character. The retro feel makes it even more charming and warm. The food was top notch and was well worth the money as they portion nice and big up here! Have to try their homemade pies, amazing quality for a classic kiwiana dish. Stayed a night and was really cozy and relaxing, so if you are looking for a easy getaway then this little pub is it. Only have great memories of our time there and could not recommend it more.

Awesome romantic getaway! So close to Auckland but felt so unique and special ! My partner and I needed to leave the city for a while and relax, Paparoa Hotel has been recommended to us by multiple friends and it was just the perfect spot. Truly amazing staff, helpful and friendly. Nothing pretentious and a true kiwi feel. The decor is retro and funky, the food was amazing and portion size was super generous. I love the idea that the pub has been run by the same family since the beginning, it makes it full of warmth and history. It was really affordable and we left with great memories.
