A fun and fabulous place to stay ★★★★★
Kokonga Lodge was the last of our Otago Rail Trail overnight stops. From the time Frank picked us up at Hyde Rail Station we knew it was going to be a fun and fabulous stay. Frank and Alexis have a great set up for riders on arrival to store bikes/jackets/shoes/e-bike charging etc. The Taieri Room was super spacious and comfortable complete with a window seat to enjoy the wonderful views from. The guest lounge, dining and media rooms all felt like home and were good spots to relax and socialise in. Frank and Alexis were terrific hosts and when we’re back in Central Otago we’re planning to include a return stay.
A last night of Luxury ★★★★★
We really didn’t know what to expect, just that we were going to a lodge that we couldn’t pronounce correctly until we had lessons in Naseby!
Wow- that was our first word when we arrived. It is an amazing place and you will want to put the views in your pocket (along with Daisy the dog) to remember them forever. Just loved Alexis and Frank from the first time they greeted us, enjoying their company and banter for the duration of the stay.
The lodge is amazing on all levels – the hosts, relaxing areas, bedrooms, views and the delightful dog Daisy! The dinner was wonderful which we had with a lovely bottle of Pinot purchased from their extensive wine list. Continental breakfast was also provided which prepared us well for the longer ride that day. We also had time to visit the old school house, taken there by Daisy! It was like stepping back in time. So regretted not making it a two night stay, not just for the company and the views, but also for the luxury accommodation provided. Thank you for making the last night of the Trail such a wonderful memory. Hope we get to stay again.
Thank you Frank and Alexis for being such wonderful hosts. We were a group of four adults and two children and were looked after exceptionally during our stay. Outstanding food and hospitality, such comfortable beds and a very tastefully decorated lodge. Would definitely stay again! 😀 The gorgeous dog Daisy was an added bonus, not to mention the best gin and tonics on the rail trail!.
Spacious / very warm / comfortable ★★★★★
Alexus and Frank were amazing hosts! We were a group of 7 on our last day of the trail and we were wanting to spend out last night in an upmarket lodge. This certainly did not disappoint. From the time we arrived to the time we left we were well looked after. Pretty much waited on hand and foot. The meal was amazing! We all had a great time and enjoyed the night playing cards in this beautiful property with its stunning surroundings. The rooms were spacious and very warm. Breakfast was brilliant. Would definitely stay again.
Kokonga Lodge – excellent!!★★★★★
A fantastic place to stay and amazing hosts. Felt so welcomed by Frank and Alexis. Awesome evening meal and relaxing time on the deck in the sunshine and breakfast to start off the next day. If you’re in the area or rail trailing an absolute must stay pay them a visit you’ll not be disappointed – will definitely head back 🤗
