The motel units were built in 1972, and the manager’s residence was built in 1995. The current owner has updated and replaced many chattels in the motel complex (see chattels list in documents section). Since June 2016, new beds, nets, curtains in all units have be purchased, and there’s new carpet and vinyl in all units, plus a new gas hot water system, water softening equipment, new playground equipment, plus a new BBQ, and generally all units totally upgraded. The guest laundry features a washing machine and drier, with the business working laundry featuring a Maytag washing machine and a Maytag gas dryer. The entire complex exterior was freshly painted in March this year (2020), making it one of the easiest and most ‘move-in-ready’ motel businesses, with little to no maintenance for the new business owner.

It is also, technically, the newest town, after the original old town had to be moved when the Clyde Dam was built and Cromwell’s main street was flooded to create Lake Dunstan. We enjoyed 6 nights here over Easter. A nice quiet area. We had a lovely, generous-sized studio unit at the end of a block which we really enjoyed. Very nicely appointed and comfortable bed. Easy walking to The Old Town and an ideal base for travelling to Wanaka, Queenstown, Arrowtown, Alexandra etc. We would happily return and would recommend.

5/5 | When we got here lady was helpful and took us to our motel room. even thou we hadn’t booked in yet. Smelt clean , was clean and was very tidy. Once we aventurly booked in . Mad at reception was very helpful. They have lots of information about cromwell and places to eat and things to do. tidy grounds and exceptional service. Would definitely come and stay again . Also tell others about it.

5/5 | Hubby & I stayed planned to stay here for 2 nights, back in February 2020. We ended up staying 4 nights (nearing the end of our 3 week trip to the S.I). Absolutely fabulous location, as we did day trips using Cromwell as our base. Oue room was delighful, super staff, with lovely grounds. Used the free shuttle to & from the local Club overlooking Lake Dunstan & great meals served too. A must visit destination, with the Old Cromwell Town worth visiting & many surrounding areas. A beautiful town, scenery, cafes, restaurants & people. Can’t wait to go back here again.
