REGIONAL FEATURES & INFORMATION
Lake Hayes Estate (often shortened to LHE) is a suburb nearby to Queenstown in the South Island of New Zealand. It is named after and situated near Lake Hayes. The population of the town at the 2018 census was 6,240. The main access to Lake Hayes Estate is off State Highway 6. To the west is the newer sub division of Shotover Country which can be accessed via Jones Road.
McBride Park is one of the central points of the estate and was named after a family of industrious settlers who first lived on the land. Amazing value, delicious food, lovely setting, awesome, outside kids play area. ★★★★★
Love this place. We often meet friends and their families at the Hayes. The kids love the fort, slide, sand pit and kids menu. The outdoor area is the perfect spot to enjoy lunch or brunch on a sunny day while the kids play. Last time I was there had the hippy hash cakes and chia pot. I was super impressed with the quality, quantity and the price of the breakfast. It is amazing value and the chia pot was a yummy treat. It isn’t often you find a meal that is delicious, healthy and a great price. It is now my favourite breakfast in town. There are so many other tempting dishes on their new menu too. I am looking forward to trying more.
The menu is easy to navigate and is clearly labeled for any dietary requirements. The beer battered chips are just too moreish. Oh and they have a great selection of beer and wine. 10/10 for a family brunch or lunch.
Hidden Gem! ★★★★★
Came for lunch, what a hidden gem in lake Hayes estate. Kiwi as burger was great with shoestring fries. Ribs were to die for , best I’ve had , meat was falling off the bone and if you get the full meal you won’t leave hungry-if you can eat it all. Service was great, friendly and reasonably priced . If you want a beer you can’t go past the good old big bottle of Speights for $10 !!
Best local spot ★★★★★
Amazing daily deals, sunny summer patio, delicious wedges. Great option for both a take-away, or to sit in with friends. Service is timely, kind and helpful 🙂
Great for families ★★★★
Good food, good prices. Has a kids menu and outside play area with sandpit and small playground, good for little kids. Service was ok, our orders came fast. Would come again and recommend to others!
Friendly, attentive staff… we’ll definitely be back ★★★★★
Called in with no idea what to expect. The reviews from our table included “best pulled pork belly burger I’ve ever had” (she’s had a few!!) and “this (beef) burger rivals any burger I’ve ever had. Super fresh and substantial”. The crispy chicken was a winner too – it’s on the starter menu, but is plenty big enough to share or have as a main. My veggie pizza was delicious, lovely combo of flavours and the base was amazing. Friendly, attentive staff… we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area.
